AIA Springfield Bi-Annual Design Awards

The Springfield Chapter of the American Institute of Architects hosted their bi-annual Design Awards program to recognize and celebrate great architectural design. The DA 14 reception was held Friday May 2 at 5:30 pm at 319 Downtown and winners were announced starting at 6:15 pm.

Nineteen architecture firms submitted 45 projects. Two panels work—a professional jury, and a public jury—juried the projects. Carlos Jimenez, a professor at Rice University as well as a principal at Carlos Jimenez Studio, led the professional Jury. The panel also include consisted of Danny Samuels, FAIA, a principal at TAFT ARCHITECTS, Houston, as well as Dawn Finley, who is a principal at Interloop Architecture, Houston, and an Associate Professor, Rice University School of Architecture.

The public jury was chaired by Nancy Chikaraishi a professor at the Hammons School of Architecture and the panel included Nick Nelson, Director of Springfield Art Museum; Jonathan Gano, interim co-director of Public Works for City of Springfield; Ryan Allison from the Convention Visitors Bureau; Chris Rozier from the Springfield Are Chamber of Commerce and Jason Graf, Cofounder and CEO of Crowdit.
